Ramblings of a legend in the making...

To many students and hard-workers out there, sleep is one of the most valuable facets of life. Those few hours where one gets an escape from the world and gets to rest their body can be some of the best moments that life has to offer. Or at least that is the case with me!

So when someone or something, may it be noises such as cars or people such as the bitchkazis upstairs mess up my sleep, it can really put a damper on the rest of my day. That is why I have decided to impart my wisdom on other people in the hopes that they do not have to deal with outside forces such as inconsiderate neighbors and that they have a good day after waking up in a good way. Here are some tips that will help you wake up well and have you feeling great for the rest of the day.

5. Go to sleep with your curtains half way open
Natural light will send a signal to your brain in the morning that it is time to wake up. That way you will slowly come out of your deep sleep and feel much more rested when your alarm finally does go off. Hey, I'd much rather be woken up by sun then by the sweeping going on upstairs at 5:30 in the freaking morning!

4. Spend a few minutes listening to some music
There is a reason why clock radios are so popular. That's because waking up in the morning to some music can be a real pick-me-up. Personally I like to hear something soothing when I wake up or I like to hear one of Gareth Cliff's witty remarks but that's just my preference. Good Day by Priscilla Ahn or Good Life by One Republic are some tunes that really start my day off nicely. Just a tip.

3. Wake up to the smell of coffee
If you can afford the good stuff then excellent for you. Some of us are not as fortunate but still enjoy a good cuppa every now and then. Coffee will make you feel awake and energized and is awesome on a cold day as it warms you from the inside. Perfect!

2. Set your alarm 15 minutes earlier
This will allow you time to just chill in bed and stretch nicely before you actually have to get up. This is best when you have had enough sleep during the night. DO NOT try this if you only got 3 hours sleep- you will fail dismally! Trust me, I know!

1. Get enough sleep the night before
I cannot stress this point enough! As a student this is highly improbable for me but it really feels good when I have gotten the right amount of sleep (in my case that would be at least 10 hours!). You will feel rested and energized and best of all you'll feel pretty because you won't look like death itself!
