Ramblings of a legend in the making...

Today I would like to address the issue of weaves! Ladies, please pay attention because if you follow these simple rules, you will never go wrong- Firstly, if it shines that does not mean that it will make you shine. In fact, it may actually make you look cheap! Secondly, price doesn't matter much if you don't look after your weave. Quality doesn't mean you should do less work. And thirdly, just because it says 100% real human hair on the packet does not mean that it is going to look real on your head! With that being said, I understand the novelty of wanting hair that is long or that will move but the problem arises when you choose a weave that doesn't suit you or you fail to look after it! So I am here to let you know about the pros and cons of weaves. Hopefully this will help you make an informed choice about what you choose to adorn your head with.

PROS

Fast Results
Typically, sewn-in weaves take approximately 4 hours to complete. This is obviously dependant on the person doing your hair as well as the length of the weave but fact of the matter is, you can change your weave easily, it only takes a few hours to transform your whole look and when taken care of, your weave could last you up to 3 months.

Instant Length
Most of the time when asked why they've chosen a particular weave, most women I've spoken to mentioned that they wanted longer hair. A weave is perfect for giving you the length you desire without you having to wait years for it to grow (trust me, I know a LOT about this!)

Natural Hair Protection
Contrary to popular belief, a weave does protect your hair from breakage and weakening as the hair attached to your head takes all the strain from the styling and hair products rather than your natural hair.

CONS

Pain
Ever heard the saying "beauty is pain"? Weaves are a perfect example of what that means. In order to attach the weave to your head, your natural hair must be braided tightly along your scalp in order for the weave to be sewn in. This can sometimes be extremely painful, especially if your hairstylist is a sadist who enjoys pulling!

High Cost
Weaves can be extremely expensive, especially if you are looking for good quality. The fact of the matter is that you will have to purchase the hair and then still pay for it to be attached. This process will also have to be done every three months making it very costly for the diva who wants to look fabulous.

Quality
An unfortunate side-effect of the weave is that they aren't all made the same. With a weave, what you pay for is what you get so the cheaper the weave is, the cheaper it will look. My advice- choose wisely.

Indian hair, Brazilian hair, synthetic hair... Whatever the case, choose wisely and wear your hair with confidence! You did buy it after all!
