So, it's 1 am and I'm still awake. One would think it's insomnia but instead, I'm having to deal with the inconsiderate buffoons I am forced to call neighbors. Before them life in my flat was peaceful. No footsteps, no loud noises, no dropping of objects on the floor... Just peace and quiet. And then two young ladies moved upstairs and my whole world just seemed to change. One of them stays at home all day so no matter what I do, I just never seem to get a break. Day-long headaches turn into sleepless nights as I toss and turn just wondering when the terror will end. I would really like to move but I wonder if I will get neighbors who are more considerate than the ones I currently have to deal with. One would swear they are completely immune to the noise that radiates from their apartment!
To clarify my situation fully, I am currently living in a complex that contains 12 flats. There are 6 apartments on the ground floor and 6 on the first level. I have been lucky enough to live on the bottom floor (can you sense my tone of sarcasm? Is it clear enough?). The neighbors that lived above me when I moved in seemed as though they were either never at home or they were just that silent. I had no idea they had moved out until about a month after the fact. Two months of pure bliss followed until one day I heard footsteps upstairs and was under the impression that a ghost may be living up there. The next day a DSTV dish came crashing down onto my patio and that is where our story started. Sure, they could be loud and obnoxious but what makes this brand of neighbor so much worse is the fact that they make just the act of living underneath them unbearable! They stomp around like elephants, walk in heels, drop and throw things on the floor thinking I cannot hear them, play loud music and SING ALONG (FML!) and no matter what time they decide to go to bed, they are always up by 5 am, even on weekends! For a person who loves their sleep, this is one of my worst nightmares!
I have attempted to speak to them about the noise, bang a broom stick on the ceiling and even practice throwing and catching a tennis ball but seemingly these people have a real problem hearing! My head is pounding as we speak from the heavy footsteps in motion just above my head! I am about to lose all sanity! Tonight, however, I will retaliate in a subtle way. Having long hair has its advantages and those include taking forever to blow-dry it! As of midnight tonight my hair will be styled in my bedroom which is directly underneath theirs! I get to look fabulous and keep my inconsiderate neighbors up, what a treat!
More updates on my progress will follow soon- Project "Get the Bitchkazis" is in full force! Wish me luck! :-)
